There are two ways to set link extender; one is by using the WPS button and another one is by using a Web Browser. Follow these simple steps to get it done within few minutes.
Method 1- WPS Method
One can easily utilize this method if your Router or Access point props up WPS within few minutes.
1. First of all, plug in the Range Extender into the nearby power outlet.
2. Wait until Wi-Fi LED’s light up.
3. Keep the range extender on a place where you find the best signal coverage in your house.
4. Click on the WPS button on the Router. If the LED light flashes from lighter to stronger one then, it has made a stronger connection with the router and you can set it up quickly.
5. It is recommended to turn the ‘OFF’ button within 2 minutes after you press the WPS button on the Router.
6. Your Tp-link extender set up is all set to go.
7. If the WPS is unable to connect, then you can opt for the 2nd Method.
Method 2 – Web Browser Method
1. Firstly, plug in the Range Extender into the power outlet and let your computer connected with the internet.
2. Type ‘tplinkextender.net’ in your browser and log into it by using username ‘Admin’ and password ‘Admin’.
3. Go to the Network setting option. It is recommended to keep your computer and Router within the same range so that it can be easily accessed.
4. Go to the Web management page and click on a quick set up.
5. Click on the wireless tab menu and select the range extender from the list in operation mode field.
6. Go the search options to find out your extender’s network.
7. Locate and choose your network name SSID of TP-Link device from the drop-down list.
8. Hit on the ‘Connect’ button and then ‘Save’ option.
9. Go to the ‘Wireless’ section and select ‘Wireless security’. Choose Advanced Security Standard. The recent security encryption standard is ‘WPA2-PSK/WPA-PSK’ and encryption ‘AES’.
10. Type the ‘testtplink’ in PSK Password field and ‘Save the changes’.
11. TP-Link Wi-Fi Range Extender is ready to start with.
